Practical Magic Prep: Full Moon in Pisces

Information is the Weapon I use to Protect Myself

Lunar Eclipses spell endings. Aptly this corresponds with a Full Moon in Pisces that’s asking you to release/let go. I have found it so interesting of late to hear people say “I don’t believe in astrology.” Cool. Here’s the thing, like so many universal and scientific laws, its existence does not require the condition of your belief. You don’t have to believe in gravity but I promise you it still really, really believes in you and is exerting it’s force on you every moment of every day. So it’s cool if you don’t believe in astrology, but all astrology is is a forecast, a study of patterns, so don’t you like to understand what the weather is likely to be like outside before you plan your day or vacation? It’s no guarantee but it is a general predictor. And in the same vein, weather isn’t good or bad, your perspective and interaction with it makes it so. Some people love nothing more than a good rainy day, other’s hate it. But neither perspective makes it right or wrong or personal. It just is.

It has to Start Somewhere. It has to Start Sometime.

So what’s going away? The past. So many of us are living trapped in individual and collective cages of our own emotional making. Memories can be wonderful where they are honored and appreciated, but where they tether us like a rusty anchor to outdated concepts, systems, relationships and attitudes they are doing us no good. There’s a popular saying to “ride out a storm,” that stems from actual seamanship. Sailors know that in most storms, it’s safer to roll with the changing tide and movement of the storm and stay afloar than to drop and anchor and get ripped to shreds by the storm. If you’re going through a stormy time in your life, cut the anchor to the past and see where this storm is trying to take you. It could be to safety. It could be to better shores. But if you tether yourself to your old mindset and old lifestyle the only certainty you have is drowning in these stormy Piscean waters and powerful Lunar Eclipse endings and cutting ties.

What Better Place than here? What Better time than now?

Let go willingly or be dragged but September is not spun in subtleties. It demands change and you and I are both going to come to terms with it, either in acceptance and grace or resistance and anger but it’s coming. We have to let go of what was. We need to release any old emotional wounds or ties to the past. Forgiveness is the most radical form of vengeance we can partake in. It’s imperfect but it’s worth striving for because the peace on the other side of forgiveness, of letting go, of moving forward in our power, is worth the anguish. In the words of one of my all-time favorite musical geniuses Rage Against the Machine, “None of the above, f*ck it, cut the cord.”
