Recognizing Signs/Omens: Wasp

When certain plants, animals, natural elements show up in your life - the universe and/or your ancestors are trying to get your attention.

When wasp and its symbolism show in your life in a powerful way, pay attention! The universe is trying to get a message through to you about the power of wasp. The first is a message of organization and strategy. There are over 100,000 different kinds of wasps, each with unique skills and strategies for their environments and survival. Many indigenous cultures globally view wasp as a powerful partner in shamanistic work and in sacred geometry, due to their organization and in particular their hexahedron (a solid figure with six plane faces) patterned nests. In sacred geometry the hexahedron shape is associated with stability, the earth, and grounding – fascinating from a creature that takes to the air and flies! Crystals like apatite, sugalite and aquamarine also bear this hexahedron structure. The world truly is all connected.

What are the sacred patterns in your life? How are events actually connected and trying to show you the patterns?

Wasps are also considered an embodiment of slowing down and could be trying to call you attention to crafting a sacred space. Wasp can be a great companion spirit when you need to slow down, to pay attention to items of value and beauty and significance, and as you quest to gather together these precious items and moments to create an altar or sacred space. Seeing wasp, particularly if he’s landed somewhere and is enjoying some stillness is a great reminder that you, too, can craft these moments of quiet and create space for being. Not just doing at a frenzied pace.

Finally, wasp is a reminder that if we have felt under attack lately you need to consider that usually the toxicity of other’s attacks has more to do with their wounds than our shortcomings. Take a moment to consider where you might have caused harm or injury. If you’ve made a mistake, own it and make it right. If you’re subject instead to a swarm of negativity, remove yourself from the negativity and don’t hold on to any resentment. Resentment is the toxin you poison yourself with. Bless others and move on.
