Recognizing Signs/Omens: Turtle

When turtle shows up in your life in a big way, pay attention as the universe could be trying to get a message through to you. Turtle is a power animal in many cultures around the world and a symbol of spiritual truths and mysteries. Turtles appear in so many forms, water types, colors, patterns, sizes and environments that globally cultures have revered this amazing creature for its special gifts and abilities. The Iriqoius creation myth speaks of the Great Spirit creating the world from the shell of a giant turtle. In Mayan creation stories the gods were able to grow the original corn from a crack in the shell of turtle. The Turtle as a Power Animal may be showing up to remind you of the Divine Mystery that surrounds you and to tap back into the origins of our universal mother, Mother Earth. Another possible meaning of turtle is that he is showing up to protect and shield you from negative energies that are being projected your way.
