Practical Magic Prep: New Moon in Libra
All the Things You Said to Me Today, Changed my Perspective in Every Way
The Libra New Moon is also sometimes called the moon of peace which calls on the sign of Libra’s notoriety for finding balance, justice and fairness. Represented by the scales Libra’s symbology ties back to Egyptian mythology where a person’s heart is weighed at judgement against a feather after their death. A light, joyful, good heart was found in balance with the feather, a heavy, dark heart was out of balance and the soul was thusly judged. This is our new moon of peace to find a balance within our own hearts. It may not be our day of judgement, but who we are day to day is who we really are and what we are becoming (or what we are choosing to stay like).
It's Out There, It’s Out There, It’s Out There if You Want Me I’ll Be Here
As I age, I am starting to learn that peace is not always a peaceful or easy process. Sometimes “keeping the peace” means being quiet. And there is wisdom in that strategy. Sometimes though peace comes through pressure, through strength and through action. There are all kinds of sayings like “protecting the peace,” and this will be a new moon that takes a more direct, warrior like approach to peace – mainly due to the aspecting this moon is doing with Jupiter and Pluto. There could be some tension in the form of uncomfortable situations or circumstances. There feels like a theme in October that we are being asked to really question how well we do with conflict and what are healthy strategies to deal with conflict or situations that stress us. Growth and innovation come through some conflict. Through some discomfort. So challenge yourself to take on the discomfort of having these honest conversations with yourself, or others, and anywhere you’re choosing to “keep the peace” as an excuse to not grow or do what you need to do – stop it!
I’ll be Dreaming my Dreams with You
What comes out of constructive conflict engagement? Results. New paradigms. Reformations. These are all healthy, positive aspects of learning to engage with good conflict strategies to mediate, to compromise, to be honest. And this new moon in Libra is supporting the start of new types of projects and new types of relationships that have this honest, beautiful foundation. Anything you start now from this place of honesty, not fear or avoidance, from really being truthful and who you are and what you need, those relationships are bound to be weighed light as a feather.
