Neptune in Pisces
Keeping Tabs on Big Blue
Even as a certified astrologer I sometimes find myself pausing to think, “wait, where is Neptune at now? Isn’t he retrograding? Didn’t I just post about that?” So if you get a little discombobulated trying to keep tabs on these pesky moving planets – you’re in good company! Half the time I’m looking for my pen (oh yea, it’s in my hair) or my glasses (on top of my head!) so I can’t remember where all the planets are every moment. Here’s your little backstory then to set the stage for this chapter of Neptune in Pisces.
Somewhere in a Galaxy Far, Far Away…
Cue the Star Wars theme… Neptune was in Aries until October 22 when it will return to Pisces (it’s sign of rulership) before settling into Aries on January 26, 2026. Why the move from Aries back to Pisces? Neptune is in retrograde (began on July 4 until December 10, 2025). That means this is the last time Neptune will be in Pisces for 165 years so the next 3-months are an ideal time to engage in a spiritual practice that you want to stick for a while.
Neptune’s Watery Gifts
Did you know Neptune wasn’t discovered by sight, but by math? It’s true. In 1846 Urbain Le Verrier predicted the presence of the ice giant planet mathematically, before it was discovered and seen with a telescope. It was named Neptune after the Roman god of the sea due to its very blue surface, akin to the sea-god’s watery domain. Neptune’s domain in Roman mythology is super interesting to me because it shows that the Roman’s believed in multi-faceted beings. Yes, he ruled the seas, but he also was the god of all water (the lakes and rivers, too), earthquakes (yikes!) and horses (in the words of Kramer, “giddy-up!”). In astrology, Neptune stands for the subconscious, the mystic “hidden” inner or intangible world, and also addiction and escapism. We see in Neptune astrologically and mythologically the spectrum of higher and lower frequencies of representation.
Putting Spirituality into Action
Spirituality is a concept and collection of beliefs, but it is also an action. This is where I think so many of us fall short of the mark. We espouse to ideals, but we don’t actually live them. We talk about our values, but we don’t embody them. We like our spiritual practices as thoughts, but we don’t take daily actions that support them. I’m really coming face-to-face with this myself. I consider myself a calm, patient and kind person but bad reviews, rude airline staff, and cancelled flights really trigger my most unhealed and deeply unspiritual actions. I bitch. I whine. I stress. I get mad. I swear. None of that is who I believe I am or what I believe in, but when I’m honest with my shadow, I know this is my reaction. How do we stay in a place of peace or live our ideals when they’re challenged? I don’t have a single answer for you. I believe the answer comes from Neptune’s discovery itself.

We have to hold faith in the person we want to be, in the world we want to live in, before we see it. And we have to do the work. Le Verrier didn’t just sit back and say, “I believe,” he did the work. He ran the numbers, and did the math, and believed in his work, and saw the results that his work was proven when Neptune was discovered with the telescope. This is the invitation for us. Have your beliefs. Keep your dreams and visions. But don’t stop there. Do the work. Run the numbers. Keep the action and practice behind your spiritual work. Then you’ll surely see the results in a tangible life that reflects the values you’re striving for. For tangible dreams that results from daily practice. Imperfect, consistent, simple daily practice leads to massive shifts. Ask any bodybuilder. Ask any super saver or investor. Ask any successful marriage. The big breakthroughs are little waypoints along the journey but they aren’t the journey itself. It’s how you show up every day that is going to shape the person you are, the embodiment of your beliefs and the kind of human being you become.
