Neptune Goes Retrograde

Neptune is our planet of divine surrender, intuition, imagination and intuition. It’s an outer planet and outer planets in astrology represent those functions of the self that are subconscious, soulful and spiritual work.

Neptune is associated with the 3rd eye chakra because it is the planet that rules over intuition, psychic ability and the development and use of our power to see and tap into the unseen world around us.

In astrology, Neptune then is both the planet of dreams and disassociation. Of intuition and addiction. Where your Neptune is by house and sign will point to areas in your life where you are prone to big dreams, extra perceptions beyond the known but also susceptibility to addiction or escapism.

Neptune will be retrograde in the sign of Aries (briefly retrograding back into Pisces from October to January) before posting in Aries until March 2039. This means we have the opportunity to become true spiritual warriors for the ideals of Neptune: imagination, intuition, compassion and trusting in the Divine. While in retrograde, however, we need to be mindful of a few traps that may lie along our path. First, Neptune in its shadow can also be the wounded victim. Where are you choosing victimhood over being the victor in your life? Look to the house your Neptune is in (natal). Neptune can also represent addition or escapism. Again, look to the house. 7th or 8th house? You might be tempted to slide back into a toxic or co-dependent relationship (7th) or struggle with healthy boundaries (8th). Be mindful and use this retrograde to really reflect on how you get to be the author of your own story. This time you can do things differently, as you like, in your own way.

Retrogrades are a great time to keep a dream journal and to work with dreams and intuitive messages. Neptune retrograde is also an exceptionally good time to work with our crystal friends, as they are vibrational frequencies that can help to direct and aid your active dreaming.
